Hidden treasure

Inside a box that belonged to my grandmother. I love old stamps. I love exploring personal history. I wonder who she knew in New York?

Osc, Nora and I went on a little holiday last week. Was hoping to share photos here today, but I seem to have broken the USB that reads my SD card. Soon. Hopefully.

ps Have you ever ridden a penny farthing? My sister got to give it a go recently. Looks scary

Flowers for Friday: Mum's house

Our washing machine is broken. So yesterday I loaded the car full of dirty clothes and semi-clean children and headed to my Mum's place. Between waiting for loads to wash and dry, Oscar ran round her house causing havoc and I sat serenly sipping tea admiring these flowers. Aren't Grandmas wonderful?

ps thank you all for the supportive comments on my watercolours, Im x

teacups III + IV

I'm still painting my teacups. Slowly, slowly I'm trying to build a little portfolio. There may be the possibility to have a small exhibition, then I might open a little etsy store. We shall see.

Thank you

We received this lovely package in the post last week. Thanks Jodi.

ps the BIG magazines are totally inspiring.  They've started us on a series of mum/son collaboration artworks. Fun.
pps For any new mums to be or friends of mums to be, Jodi currently has a truly wonderful giveaway happening to celebrate her daughter Poet's first birthday.

Flowers for Friday: Leucadendron

This lovely bush (in our front yard) is currently covered in creamy white flowers. I may have to go pick some to put in glass bottles around our apartment.

I've been choosing colours and benchtops and floorboards and skylights. Getting pretty excited! Will share here shortly.

Oscar is lucky enough to be going to this tomorrow morning – his Aunty Aym has offered to take him. Which means Rodge, Nora and I will have a relaxing toddler free Saturday. Smiles all round.

Home

As everyone finally recovered from snuffles, I succumbed to my second bout of mastitis, which made me useless for a day. Now I am on the mend, just a little tired in the evenings (and mornings).

However, we have received the most wonderful news, that our builder's quote has been approved by the insurers. Cleaning started today. It is so lovely to know that maybe our house will be our home soon.

Embroidering hearts III

With the days getting shorter, colder, darker and sniffles and snuffles sweeping through my little family, I've found I've had less time to work on the hearts.

I've felt a little lost on this heart, so I've been throwing more and more colours and stitches at it, in the hope that somewhere I'd find a happy direction. Only now is it starting to look ok. As you can see it is unfinished, more blanket stitch, maybe a few more fly stitch leaves, the rest of the pekinese stitch and a bit more running stitch on the left side, then it will be complete. This is the halfway heart, once it is finished only four more to go.

We've been eating wholefood mama's lentil soup and drinking fresh thyme leaf tea (with a bit of lemon and honey), hoping to fight all the nasties away.

(Just read over that and laughed, I shouldn't make it sound quite so dire, the SUN IS SHINING and we spent the morning running around the park!)

ps the moon looks beautiful tonight.

This is my suburb: Chinese cultural festival

As part of Open Marrickville, there was a wonderful series of Chinese performances on Saturday. Loved watching these ladies prepare to sing opera.

In other news, I've had the most beautiful weekend. We were reunited with Rodge in time for his birthday.

Many wonderful things have been happening, which I could share right now, but both babies are asleep, a rare, co-ordinated naptime. Bliss. So I'm thinking I shall seize the opportunity to either paint or embroider.
