Do you pin your own stuff?

Today, I pinned a couple of bits and pieces from my blog onto pinterest. I was just looking at my inspiration boards for Oscar and Nora and it only made sense, in my mind, that they actually have some  relevant images from real life. They are my inspiration boards after all; if I had a personal physical pinboard at home, then such things would be included.

It left me thinking, is this good or bad pinterest etiquette? Does it just look like shameless self-promotion? Have you ever pinned from your own blog?

  1. I pinned from my own blog once - but then I don't really pin too often anyway.. but never pinned my own stuff again because it seemed sorta strange... x

ps. such an unhelpful comment, sorry! x

    1. It does seem sort of strange - I pin most things so I can find them again. I'm not about to loose my blog!

I just liked the way the pins made the boards seem more complete.

    1. Glad I'm not the only one.

I've pinned a few beautiful bits and pieces from your blog (and now shop).

  3. I created a Pinterest account so that when I see inspiring things online I don't lose them. I don't really understand the social networking aspect of it...but wish I did!!! I have pinned some images from my blog because I think they're interesting and because I thought it was a completely normal thing to do. I had no idea there were etiquette implications! Despite having a blog, I'm such a clueless technophobe.

    1. I'm not even sure if anyone would ever have noticed I pinned my own stuff – except I then drew attention to it and wrote about it here!

I don't think there are etiquette implications really, I just wouldn't want anyone thinking I was spamming pinterest or something.

ps I've pinned a couple of images from your blog, because I too think they're interesting/good ideas/yummy.

  4. There are a few peoples blogs I follow who I have noticed pin their own items onto pinterest - but I dont think its weird at all and i definitely don't regard it as spam!

The pinterest iphone app lets you take photos with the camera and pin them straight away - so i dont think theres an etiquette problem here either!

    Keep pinning!! x

  5. I read about pinning my own stuff from a pro-blogger, so I figured it was ok - I do it all the time.

  6. I do pin my own things on Pinterest, mostly because I have friends/teachers/artworld people that I only connect with on Pinterest and when I pin up a new piece it's to say, hey, look at this new piece in my gallery. I update my blog so infrequently, but I'm much more active in Pinterest. In a way, I use Pinterest like a social networking tool similar to Facebook but for my art web friends rather than people I actually know well. So, I say go for it =) We may find images on Pinterest that we missed on your blog, and that would be great!

  9. hi im. i agree with jay. i am also yet to join pinterest. i have this awful fear of not escaping my computer screen. as much as i love the online world, i too enjoy begin away from it. the beautiful images and inspiration i see over there though does make we want to be part of it. hope your settling into your new home well. xo

    1. Very, very wise to stay away from pinterest. This online world can be way to addictive/seductive. I've already been sucked in and sometimes my self discipline leaves a little to be desired!

  10. Totally happy that the overall consensus is to go for it – and pin your own stuff to your hearts content. (:
