Are you a secret blogger?

Tess took it.

My family know I blog. But in the real world, very few other friends or acquaintances are aware of this blog's existence. For such a public pastime, I'm a little shy about it. Yesterday, at a party, I mentioned to a friend that I've been blogging. She urged me to send her the link. I have. I'm nervous.

Has anyone else kept their blog a secret?

ps I'm also a little nervous about posting a photo of myself, but feel that one day, I should make a proper introduction. One day.

  1. Hello gorgeous Imogen. This is your friend signing in to say I positively love your blog. I have just successfully found myself lost in all of the beautiful posts. You should be so proud. I am looking forward to the day where you promote it via Facebook so I can get all of your updates in my newsfeed. Take a bow, Im! Kate x

  2. YES thats me! I'm defiently a closet blogger. My sister knows and my hubby (but he doesn't even know how to find it), apart from that its my little secret. I'm a little shy, little nervous and maybe a little embarrased. One day I might come out of the closet :)

    1. I'm glad I'm not alone in being shy, nervous and embarrassed. I feel silly admitting it, but it is true. You have a beautiful blog Shelley and I wish you all the best if and when you come out of the closet (:

  3. Oooh yes, I am such a closet blogger! My immediate family know, one woman from my mother's group and I've only just 'confessed' to one of my oldest friends. It's very hard to explain why I haven't told more people. I think I'm a little self-conscious about it...I worry that what I write isn't clever enough or that it's a little too mumsy/crafty for my other life at work.

    1. Completely right, I feel self-conscious about it as well ... and the way that what you post can define you as a mother/ crafter etc.

  4. I wish I had of kept my blog quiet. When I first started out it was only to capture the moments my daughter and I shared and was not for anyones reading. But once I started I got into it and it became more a place to tell my stories and share my words. It has caused huge problems between me and my Mother and my blog has now become private and will be soon shut down to move to another space. A space where I will keep it far quieter than before. Lessons learnt x

  5. Oh this is very timely for me, as after 18 months of writing my blog, my hubby has just started to read the odd post here and there. And it does make me nervous. Which is silly, as I only ever write nice things about him. I guess it's just harder to reveal your thoughts to people who actually know you and see you all the time, than it is to people who don't.
As for the rest of my family and friends... only a handful of friends know and they are bloggers also. None of my family know or read my blog. I wish I had the guts to advertise it a bit more, but at this stage I don't.

  6. It's so funny isn't it, I've been blogging for about 2 years, and it's easy to tell people I don't know about it, eg on flickr, or other bloggers, but hard to tell my friends, very exposing I suppose.
    Best wishes

    1. That just made me laugh out loud!

And Nora is the best ever girls name. Did you name your daughter (I'm assuming that is your daughter's name) after someone?

  8. Yes definitely a daughter. No, she's not named after anyone specific although we did talk about it being because we loved Norah Jones. I originally found it from the author Nora Roberts and we preferred the spelling. How about you?

    1. Nora was named after her great-grandma. I've never read a Nora Roberts ... making a note for next library trip.

As a child I have fond memories of reading Noisy Nora by Rosemary Wells. And Nora Heysen is another wonderful namesake.

    1. Thanks Em. I'm normally the one behind the camera, so I don't really have a decent recent photo. (Just a few embarrassing double chin selfies with Oscar's finger smudging up the camera lens). I'll get there, soonish, I'm sure. Maybe on the weekend.
